Fishermen catch fish in the immediate vicinity, vegetables are being raised by local farmers, and wine and oil are produced in the cellars of Istrian winemakers and olive groves. Local foods are combined with truffles, asparagus and other delicacies.

You can also experience Istrian gastronomy through a trip through wine roads or olive oil roads, by car or by bike. You will experience the adventure of indigenous Istria. Exploring the old wine cellars, the close acquaintance of olive oil producers can be a complete story of the old way of life in modern times.   

If you wish to prepare Istrian delicacies in the well-equipped kitchen of your unit of the Apartment House Gvarda, we will provide you, for an extra charge, fish from local fishermen, home-made olive oil and excellent Istrian wine. In the immediate vicinity, more specifically 150 m from the Apartment House Gvarda, there is also a market with basic foods in the event that you run out of any ingredient for preparing the Istrian meal. If this offer is not good enough, you can drive to Bašanija, towards Savudrija, where there is a larger grocery store. In the town of Umag, there are larger shopping centres (Konzum, Plodine, Kaufland, Interspar, Lidl).

You can also buy home produced, fresh vegetables and fruits from a small local grower in Zambratija, 250 m away from Apartment House Gvarda.
