Experience Istria in a different way!

Umag is a picturesque small tourist town on the northern part of the Adriatic coast, which represents the Croatian door to Europe, and is 3.5 km away from the Apartment House of Gvarda. You can reach it by a tourist train, on foot or by bike. On the way, you will enjoy views of the sea, the sunset or the sunrise, smell pine trees and sea salt in all seasons.  Its charm, diverse offer, rich history and the beautifully preserved old town core will enchant you. Umag, with its 45 km long coastline, offers a special Mediterranean experience in all seasons.

Umag is about 15 minutes away from Slovenia, less than 40 km away from Italy and the city of Trieste, 120 km away from the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, and 50 nautical miles away from the famous tourist destination of Venezia.

In the immediate vicinity of Apartment House Gvarda, there are attractive historical points Cape Sipar, fishing village Savudrija, the oldest lighthouse on the Adriatic Sea, etc. Visit them on foot or by bike.

On small Cape Sipar, archaeological remains of the former antique settlement SIPARIS from the 5th and 6th centuries are located. Sipar was completely destroyed and robbed by Neretva pirates in 876.  

The fishing village of Savudrija, rich in history, is surrounded by lush Mediterranean vegetation. Due to the characteristic ratio of plant and marine aerosol in the air, the Savudrija climate is very stimulating and has a beneficial effect on health.

The Savudrija Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse at the Adriatic Sea. Its 200-year-old story will surely fascinate you, it can be accessed easily and nevertheless offers peace and mysterious flair like all other lighthouses.  The first light of the lighthouse in 1818 was also attended by the Austrian emperor himself, who then passed by.

Time will stop by walking through the old Istrian villages and picturesque towns like Motovun, Brtonigla, Oprtalj, Završje, Novigrad ... Near Brtonigla and Novigrad, only 15 km away from the sea, there is probably the most famous and most attractive Istrian medieval town of Grožnjan. It is known as the "Town of Artists", because performances of famous artists, with whom you can hang out in their galleries, are held on its stone streets every day.
